jrseriel
I was listening to jack white. and I always wondered how he gets his sound. that he has on the song "level" I personally hate the sound. But it made me think what I could possibly do to my les paul to make it sound strange and not guitar sounding. Got any ideas.
bubba_leon
To my knowledge Jack White doesn't use a Les Paul. He uses a plastic guitar known as a 1964 JB Hutto Montgomery Airline.

yoda
Pedals!!!!!!!!! Moog make some pedals that make very strange sounds. Envelope filters and octave pedals do weird things.

Silenced Fred
First off: it is his style of play that alters sound, everyone sounds a bit different Second: he uses a gretsch, not an LP, close but no cigar Third: He uses effects Fourth:
Foxboron
try running effects ontop of each others. a phaser effect and wah-wah makes your guitar sound funny :S
Vette77
well ive been pretty successful at getting weird sounds out of my rp1000. ive used stuff like an octaver and various pitch bending pedal controlled whammy effects. my favorite weird sounding effect though is a talkbox effect thats pedal controlled. its a cool sounding effect, but i tend to like heavily raising the volume on my guitar and doing severe bends while using this effect to aggrivate/confuse neighbors. dem00n
I dont like weird sounds on a guitar. I just like a nice deep gain sound...its so hard to get...one day. But if its your thing...go for it.
