Remember years ago when all the restaurant ice makers produced the soft 'crushed' ice? It was soft because it was actually made as frost, water condensed on a metal plate, frozen, then slid off. It wasn't hard like the crushed or shaved ice we get now - more like snow. Now and then I find an old restaurant or a Dairy Queen that still has it.
