Cruznolfart
I first noticed Bakithi Kumalo on the "Paul Simon's Graceland/Concert from South Africa" in '87. His enthusiastic interpretation of the bass line in "Let me be your bodyguard" was infectious, catching me up in the spirit of the entire concert. If you've not seen the dvd, do yourself a favor and watch it. Some of the best South African musicians accompany Simon on several numbers as well as taking their own solos. Hugh Masakela, Miriam Makeba, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Makeba had been in political exile for many years prior to the concert and was returning to her homeland for the sole purpose of making the recording and concert to end apartheid. Give a listen to Kumalo's music, very nice stuff. http://www.bakithikumalo.com/fr_index.cfm
