baldskull2004
Heys guys/gals what would be the best bigsby model to use without modding my 67 335 with a trapeze tail piece. thanks baldskull
jamester
No way around it AFAIK. You'll need the B7 model, which has the retaining bar which requires two holes in the top. But you need that for ample downward pressure behind the bridge. The models like the B3 which you see on Gretsch-type guitars have the floating rosewood style bridges which sit higher off the body than the TOM style. I have a 330 w/ trapeze that I'm debating this with currently myself...

lpdeluxe
The Vibramate will allow you to mount a B5 on your 335 without drilling holes. Here's a link: http://www.vibramate.com/index.html I just ordered one for my SG. The Vibramate mounts to the tail piece studs, and has the holes pre-drilled for the Bigsby. It looks a little different from the B7, but I'm sure it works the same. Several 335 owners have posted pics here of their Vibramate/B5 equipped guitars. There's also the EZ Works adaptor: http://www.zzguitarworks.com/servlet/the-Gibson-EZ-dsh-Mounts/Categories (scroll down for the 335). Let us know how it turns out. brrobert
There is not a guitar that a Bigsby does not make better! Enjoy.

It attaches where the trapeze piece attaches to the body, with no attachments to the guitar top. Like what is used on the Gretsch 5120. Although, I wouldn't mod such a vintage instrument. Leave it be. You'll be glad you did.

Honestly' date=' I wouldn't do the mod on a vintage guitar like that.[/quote'] Yeah, I just re-read the first post and realized that. But as to "vintage," a late '60s with the narrow ears and trapeze isn't my idea of vintage -- or is anything old now awarded that accolade? If I had one I'd not hesitate to put a Bigsby on it.
