Bare Knuckle Pickups....

Hi, has anyone replaced their Gibson Les Paul humbuckers with humbuckers from the Bare Knuckle brand range? If so, which ones did you install and what did you think? Did it make much difference?

Ive heard good things about them...never used them.

Most guys here (myself included) after changing their pots & caps stick with the stock Gibson pups.

 

I cant tell you how much difference real Bumblebee caps & CTS pots can make....It really lets the BB's sing.

True, I can't see any reason to change them because Gibson stuff is pretty much as good as it gets. I had Bare Knuckles in my old Strat, it made a difference there.

I've got a set of the PG (Peter Green) pickups in a Les Paul and they are as close to the original sounding Green Les Paul as you can get. Great pickups. Much much better than the Burstbuckers or 57s. Give them a try.

I've played a LP with Mules - very authentic PAFs. Couldn't be faulted, apart from premium price. Still as the UKP goes down the toilet, I guess they are looking cheaper by the day!

 

A cheaper alternative for high quality handwinds from the UK is Catswhisker Pickups. I had a custom set of Alnico IV PAFs made for my Hamer Korina V. They blow the Duncan 59's that were in it out of the water. Allan Price, the owner, is a fine pickup maker and his customer service is excellent.

 

Catswhisker or Bare Knuckles? Both are great companies and will build you what you want. If you don't know exactly, then speak to Tim (BK) or Allan (CW).
