gcp
Hi all, I am knew to LPs. On Sept 19 I purchased this babe and it's exellent in every way. But it came with aftermarket tunners, would you happen to know who made them? Thanks!
AXE®
Those would be Planet Waves Locking Tuners.

gcp
Thank you! So are these tuners better than stock? I read they are autotrim....
AXE®
"Better" is subjective at best. If they're smooth precise and don't slip. You're golden.
tazzboy
I'd change them to Grover's if it were me.

gcp
Ax, these tuners are indeed smooth, precise, and don't slip so I guess I'm golden....but I've got to do something to fill the original screwholes. What type tuners do the LPs come with stock?
DiamondJig
I have a set of those planet waves tuners, they are locking & self trimming, pull the string thru lock it down and tune it up within a 1/4 of a turn she will auto cut the string nice and flush. Nice and smooth.
ttroutindy
My 2009 LP Studio came with Grovers.
bobv
There's nothing wrong with the tuners you have on there. My only suggestion would be to have the original holes that are showing on the back professionally filled and touched up; otherwise dirt gets in there and it just keeps getting uglier. FWIW the redesigned Les Paul Standards have locking tuners now, but they don't have the automatic trimming feature that you have.
