Tim Plains
Dear admin, The forum is great, but we need a general conversation area...like a lounge. Where we can sit down, have a coffee and talk about general things. Something nice, like this Thanks,
TheLiveSoundGuy
I think we've been sort of doing that across all the threads anyway. Except for the "lawsuit" threads that got locked, Gibson's Admin. has been pretty cool about it. But that is a very comfortable looking lounge. I would like that myself. Riffster
Well I think those people that start talking about lawsuits, politics, religion, race, immigration, economy, etc in a guitar forum have ruined it for the rest of us. I can't say I blame Gibson for not having a "Cafe" type forum. I really bothers me when someone uses this forum to talk about stuff that I am precisely trying to get away from, and it is not even remotely guitar related or at least positive, after all that is one of the reasons I play guitar... FennRx
i think the lounge would be a good idea. and i think discussion of the Gibson lawsuits is extremely appropriate....it's not like it's completely off-topic, provided of course that decorum and order are kept. deleting threads that may paint Gibson in a bad light seems somewhat fasc...er, heavyhanded. haha

Gibson CS
Weve been asking for this for ages. I dont think its going to happen. Thats why we get "Off Topic" chats going in the Les Paul room. Its the same group of guys who are regulars here...We all know the score. I for one am not bothered if something non-Gibson pops up.
Gibson CS
Geez Tim, where was that picture taken? Nice!
Tim Plains
Ni idea, it's just an internet picture I used for emphasis.
rjay777
A lounge would be cool, but it's been brought up plenty of times. It's always nice to shoot the breeze about other musical topics, and find things in common with people (other than just playing Gibbos) you ordinarily wouldn't on the main boards. The only downside to that is it can go astray too easily, and some topics may become way out of context. Hopefully the administration can work something out though. Gibson CS
I dont think Gibson like it when we talk about other things. =D>
TheLiveSoundGuy
Is it me, or does this thread, which has not been locked, and has not been deleted, and has not been moved, starting to resemble a lounge? I'm mean, all we need is someone to show up with the cigars, and Howard Roberts jazz box with a Gibson GA-5 Les Paul Junior amp with a little sound file track from this album playing upon entry, and we'd have our lounge. guitarstrummer
A lounge would be nice, but I can't say I'd blame Gibson if they didn't want to include one on the fourm. After seeing how some people have tried to rant just in the regular threads, they're probably afraid of the possible results.
TheLiveSoundGuy
Ahh... but a moderated lounge...
guitarstrummer
Ahh... but a moderated lounge... Maybe they don't have the manpower to provide a continual moderator.
Spot
Maybe they don't have the manpower to provide a continual moderator. Probably the case. Some forums I know nominate members to be MODs.....therefore no cost involved. As this is a Gibson owned forum, I doubt they could do this legally.... ibis
Seeing this is the nearest thing to a lounge that we have, is anybody else upset that Powertabs has been taken down by the MPA? Sorry that this is not Gibson related but I'm still in the denial stage of the greaving process! Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
Tim Plains
I've never used powertab. I used to go to ultimate-guitartab.com for tabs...but then I made the decision to never look at tab again and learn script. Man, it's a slow learning process...I really wish I learned it when I was younger. Ultimate-guitartab is cool because they also have reviews on gear and many other things. I think I've read every review on Les Pauls they have. Harmony-central, too.
ibis
Fortunately UG are still hoting zillions of powertabs, guitar pro tabs and ordinary tabs. For how long though? Its a shame the PT community has taken a hit cos I reckon they are partly resposible for the renaissance of guitar playing (and buying) in the modern era. The idea that people would selflessly spend ages from their life perfecting tabs for others to enjoy is a nice thought. Most of the tabs were superior to manuscripts or were of songs that were no longer published. Let's hope an alternative is found quickly.

LPDEN
I know the rationale is to get to better know the folks here and shoot the breeze on unleated guitar topics. I'm sure casual conversations that stay within the guidelines in the threads without going too far off-topic can co-exist without a designated "lounge". Yes, other forums have lounge areas, but those other fourums aren't a manufacturer's like it is here, so I can fully understand why Gibson would just want us to keep it focused on guitars here.
