bobv
DiMarzio was the first big aftermarket pickup brand, and they remain a quality outfit. You should realize that they make several models so it's like asking if French wine is good. Their "Super Distortion" pickup is very high output and good for high-gain heavy metal type stuff. It was meant to be an alternative to the more vintage PAF style pickup so be aware that it is going to be different. The "Dual Sound" was the next evolution of the Super Distortion since it added a third wire so you could shunt or split the coils (sometimes incorrectly referred to as a coil "tap"). Currently they make many different models that span from PAF clones to heavy metal hair-band specials. Also take note that Dimarzio trademarked double-cream bobbins so they're hard to find from othe makers.
