Old Deadhead Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Most of the time I like to see her naked.
surfpup Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I was wondering what the best way would be to fill the hole' date=' or holes? The one on the binding isn't so bad, but the one on the top next to the neck pickup bothers me! I've left it alone so far until I find out a good way to fill it? [/quote'] If your guitars are precious and you want it done right... I got nothing. However, if you want it done quickly, cheaply, and effectively ...stick a toothpick in it and trim it off carefully with clippers or a razor knife. Then dab with appropriate colored marker or touch up paint. Works for me. Here's my gold top before and after the removal... you can see the toothpick - I still need to touch it up.
Andre S Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 AXE' date=' I'd tell you where to stick that pickguard of yours but by the looks of it, there's already a Strat wedged up there. [/quote'] OOOOOH!!!!!!
tbonesullivan Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 depends on the guitar. Sometimes the pickguard looks just as good as the guitar: I kinda wish Gibson would do figured maple pickguards. they are just... awesome.
lpdeluxe Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I don't need a pickguard -- I don't scar up tops with my pick, and I don't rest my fingers on one -- so I take them off. I did put a pickguard on a guitar that didn't have one, after an idiot dug into the nice bear claw spruce top of one my acoustics with his careless strumming.
DAS44 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Special tops-No Bursts and solids-Yes interesting... Thinkin of it I'd hate to cover up a beatiful top... I'm with Laney on the above quote
saturn Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I know AXE posted this in another thread, but it seems like a good time to see it again :-
loneguitar Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Why is it that there are always ones that feel the need to post on/off posts? It's your guitar, who cares as long as you like it the hell with the rest. come on.
vintage52 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 And even more amazingly, the knobs become speed knobs and the strings wrapover.. Damn it!! If taking the pickguard of achieves all this, I'm getting rid of mine!!
DeVeeWee Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 If your guitar has a nice finish, why wasting the looks...
rocketman Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I agree with both AXE® and Are Nine...he he he. Off On
VBB Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 for the guys with the nice finish, and who don't want the holes, how about the Bobby Lee clear pickguards that screw to the pickup rings. I put a blue transluscent one on my robot and it looks pretty. Real pretty.
vintage52 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 If your guitar has a nice finish' date=' why wasting the looks... [img']http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp185/DeVeeWee/DSC01271.jpg[/img] Too true. I've a 96 Standard with a similar finish. I think I will be removing the guard when I get home tonight!!
Thundergod Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Had I seen this thread the day it was started I'd most surely had said: HERE WE GO AGAIN
Thundergod Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Awesome... I loved that movie. The horse is a nice adition to that printer scene :D
pickinbuddy Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Yes, for the most part it's cosmetic, except for aggessive rhythm guitar playing OR FINGERPICKING.
Joelthefrog1 Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Mine is a nice LP Epiphone Standard Ebony Black Eveything Looks wicked really pickguard is down to Personal choice
EpiphoneGuitarist17 Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Haha, this seems to be an entertaining thread. I'm not the most advance guitarist or the most knowledgable one but I will have to agree, it does depend on the guitar, the finish, and what you could do to the sound, that is if pickguards do change the sound. Anyways, I have an Epiphone SG Special myself but I decided to put a pickguard on it.
