clash Posted October 20, 2009 Share Posted October 20, 2009 hey, 'm looking to buy an XR-1 and i was hoping if you people could tell me more about this guitar. i already know it's a prelude to the studio's but ... if someone can hook me up with more details that would be much appreciated. i have one specific question ... since they are norlins and every norlin i've seen has a burst on the back of the neck, does an XR-1 have to have that by default, or did they also come in dark back? the one i'm looking at has a dark back with no burst on the neck/headstock, but does come with a volute, a stamped serial, a made in usa stamp, a two screw trussrod cover. the serial however dates back to late 1980 (83500XXX), but wiki.gibson.com says they only start making XR's from 1981 til 1983. idea's, thoughts? thanx flip.
