guitarjunky
I have the 490R/498T pick-up combo. I love these pick-ups they sound great. I want to get some and put them in my Strat. Has anyone ever done this. Will they line up with the strings?
tazzboy
Try raise or lowering your action height.
tbonesullivan
fender uses a wider string spacing than gibson, hence why you hear about "F-spaced" pickups. Gibson pickups are all gibson spaced, so you might not get them to line up correctly. You also will have to worry about what kind of routing your Fender has. If it has bath tub or swimming pool routing you're fine, but if it's routed for SSS or SSH you'll have trouble.
guitarjunky
Actually the Strat is already set up as a HSH. I already have Humbuckers in it. They are the size of single coils. I just measured the string spacing and it is the same as my Les Paul. So, it should fit good.
guitarjunky
The 498T has F- spaced dimensions.

You have single-coil-sized humbuckers... meaning stacked humbuckers' date=' or something like these: [img']http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/regular/2/5/3/555253.jpg[/img] You might want to check your routing before you spend $200 on pickups. crossroadsnyc
Which Strat do you own?
guitarjunky
It's a Deluxe. It's got a Fender Floyd Rose. Roller nut, and locking tuners. It came with Lace Sensors. If I remember the routing is open, because they do put full size Humbuckers in these guitars as well. When I put in those stacked pick-ups it was easier so I didn't have to get another pick guard or cut mine, I even added the coil tap. And added a 500K volume pot. crossroadsnyc
I have an American Deluxe that came stock w/the SCN pups - s/s/s configuration. I have thought about putting something along the lines of a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge, but I'm surprisingly really happy w/the SCN's, so I haven't done so yet in the couple years I've owned it. guitarjunky
I've got another Strat deluxe, soft V neck with SCN pups, S1 switching. Blonde color. With locking tuners. I like this one just as much as the Gibson Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0101302767
crossroadsnyc
That's a hot guitar. This is mine ... the 3 color sunburst w/maple neck ... and yes, the S1 switching: http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0101202700 I go back and forth w/that and my R8 as to which is my favorite all the time.
