justincotten
I will be purchasing an Epiphone SG-G400 within the next week from americanmusical.com. They have the "faded" G400's in worn cherry and worn brown for 299.99, and the cherry or ebony G400's for 350? I see no difference in material,scale,pups,ect.. So what is the extra 50 dollars for? Color? here are links to both guitats if someone wants to see for themselves. http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-EPI-G400V-LIST http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-EPI-G400-LIST Thanks for any information! -Justin

Taylor Player
I have always liked shiny guitars better than satin finish or the "faded" look. I assume that more people like that look and yes it takes more time and money to produce the gloss finish. But the marketing guys know that more people will pay a bit more for glossy over satin so it will likely always be more $$$ for gloss.
jimmiJAMM
Save up and buy a used SG Standard. You'll be much happier in the long run.
bondo
The G400 is a great guitar. I got one in '96 and eventually got a Gibson SG Standard. The Standard is amazing but the G400 is perfect to start with until you can upgrade to a standard. I still have it and have never had a single problem with my G400.
