Gibson CS
kirk19... In a word...No. While I admit there are more qualified to give a complete answer to this question, Gibson USA guitars are made in Nashville Tennesee. Beautiful place!
kirk19
I thought so... I own a gibson lp standard from 2004 and some people say all or many gibsons these days are made in china. Why would people say that without evidence?

Gibson CS
There are alot of phoney Les Pauls out there. The majority are made in China. I guess people ran with that information and made up the story that LP's are made in Asia.
kirk19
I also believe that is the reason why this is going around. Its just plain stupid to say that gibons are made in china. What kind of person would still buy them if they were made in china and cost the same as when they were made in the usa? That kind of marketing move would be the end of gibson I think, they will never do this I believe
RichCI
There are alot of phoney Les Pauls out there. The majority are made in China. I guess people ran with that information and made up the story that LP's are made in Asia. That's the biggest reason why Gibson needs to do what they can against counterfeiters. It's not that they lose sales to people who want to (or can only afford to) pay only $200-300 for a guitar' date=' it's that their brand name gets tarnished. Here we have someone asking if [i']Gibson USA[/i] guitars - not Epiphone or some other sub brand - are made in China which implies that those guitars might be sub par when it comes to quality. kirk19
I didnt believe a word of it when I heard it but I wanted to tell my story here because I am concerned this could be a problem for gibson in the future. I totally agree with richCI

Stewie
A lot of people try to pass off an Epiphone "by Gibson" as a Gibson guitar. Those are made in China, Korea, and Japan. The headstocks are different but I have seen Epiphones from Japan that are made for the Japanese market with the Gibson shaped headstock. Apparently Gibson knows and it is legal. I would hazard a guess that most guitars that you would see in Belgium would not be Original USA Gibsons. I would think that the prices would be way too high. On the other hand Epi Les Pauls and SGs are probably a lot more reasonably priced. Seeing that the Epis are made in China, a lot of people would assume that the Gibsons are also. But we cleared that up!
kirk19
I think it is just because there are alot of fakes going around, even here in belgium. We have many usa gibsons but recently alot of fakes that are offered second hand.
Silverbursted
Hey maybe Gibsons really do come from China, and the ones built in the USA are the fakes. Never mind the man behind the curtain, just drink the cool-aid.
Thundergod
Fakes made in china have "made in usa" written on the back of the headstock so even if you have a fake there shouldnt be any reason to think it was made in china... so i dont really know where all this comes from. People that knows there are fakes, know they are fakes. People who dont know, just wont even think about that to begin with. So where does that lieave us? There are some suckers trying to give gibson a bad reputation... just like the ones that write reviews on the net and say gibson is crap and is very low quality and that you pay for the name, and that any $199 guitar is better. Lets face it, not all folks out there are very mature and inteligent.
