Haudenasaunee
Does anyone know where I can get a genuine Gibson rosewood saddle? One of my es-125s was owned by a Neanderthal who didn't know how to put a guitar in a case properly and susequently snapped the bridge when he closed the lid. dudehead
I couldn't find any genuine old spares but I put this one on my 1960 125T and it fit fine with a bit of sanding on the base. http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/Ebony_Archtop_Bridge_AB-152 Would be interested to know as well if you find a source of old spares... L5Larry
I would try Stew-Mac or Allparts. I put a Stew-Mac rosewood floating bridge on an old Silvertone archtop I rebuilt, and are very satisfied with it.
Haudenasaunee
Does the saddle have the same post spacing and swap over easily? Thank you.
dudehead
Mine was exactly same dimensions as the one that was taken off it. The wood was uncut and and my -luthier-skilled- father in law put in the string slot spacings for me but it is easy enough job. Just need to make sure you dont go very deep into the wood. Might have to sand the base a little to get it flush on your archtop. see - http://www.projectguitarparts.co.uk/Pages/alanstips.html
Haudenasaunee
Allparts has what looks like an exact replacement saddle. I think I'll have to get myself one of those. Perhaps more than one, I'd like to modify one or two to better facilitate the use of a slide.
