65 Casino
Anyone know if Paul had that guitar modded to be a lefty or did they actually make a lefty back in '59? Maybe it is a reissue? It is a beauty for sure.
L5Larry
If your asking about the cherry sunburst LP, it is a "real" one, not a reissue. It is a factory lefty from back in the day, but may have been custom made for someone else, but not for Sir Paul. A vintage guitar dealer friend of mine "brokered" the deal that sent that guitar to McCartney.

65 Casino
Apparently Sir Paul has a few Les Paul's - the one I am talking about is this one - looks to be a tea burst to me - supposedly a real '59 - but a lefty? from '59? (He usually plays this one on the song "The End") (where he, John, and George traded leads during the song) (a good picture of it at 1:50) He apparently enjoys Les Paul's - who doesn't... but here is another one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKn2j2N5Hcw (great picture of this one at 0:06) I wonder how many he really has...anyone else got any links to some more of his Les Paul's? (if he has others and I would love to see the one from the man himself - one of two made.)

cookieman15061
In the end it was Paul that lost an arm and a leg. hmmm sounds like a song "and in the end the love you take is equal to around...$50 million."

65 Casino
Paul looks like a kid at Christmas, but I wonder what Lester is eye balling on that guitar. Maybe that is the Les Paul Lite version that there were only 2 made mentioned earlier? Great link!

NeoConMan
I agree 100%! One point worth mentioning though.... Linda Eastman was already very wealthy when she hooked up with Mac. Well, her family was anyhow - the Eastmans of Eastman-Kodak fame. That's how they hooked up - she was a "photographer" when they met. The incredibly wealthy move in different circles than the likes of us....
pohatu771
I don't think the wealth came from the Eastman name - it came from the Lindner name. Living in the same city as Kodak and having been to George Eastman's mansion, I'd have probably heard about it. I could always be wrong. That's not to say the Eastmans weren't wealthy, I just don't think they were the same Eastmans as George. [EDIT] I can just about confirm it - Linda's grandfather (Eastman) was a Russian immigrant arriving ten years after the first Kodak camera was sold. George Eastman also never had children. NeoConMan
I remember hearing decades ago that she was from the Eastman family. Never got the impression that she was an heiress or anything like that, but her family did have money. Never cared enough to look into it, so I'll not state anything as fact. Enlighten us if you wish, trivia is always a good thing! [biggrin]/
65 Casino
Got this from Wikipedia - so credits for the info go there - Her father and mother were Lee Eastman and Louise Sara Lindner Eastman, heiress to the Lindner Department Store fortune. Linda McCartney was born Linda Louise Eastman, the second-eldest of four children, to Jewish-American parents in New York City. She had one older brother, John (10 July 1939) and two younger sisters, Laura (born 1947) and Louise Jr. (born 1950).[1][2] She grew up in the wealthy Scarsdale area of Westchester County, New York and graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1960.[3] Her father was the son of Jewish-Russian immigrants. He changed his name from Leopold Vail Epstein to Lee Eastman, but was not related to George Eastman of Eastman Kodak fame.[2][4] He was songwriter Jack Lawrence's attorney, and at his request, Lawrence wrote a song called "Linda" in honor of the five-year-old. The song was recorded by Buddy Clark in 1947.[2] quick note - Father formerly known as Epstein - imagine that...
cookieman15061
This is correct Linda was of no relation to the Eastmans of Kodak fame. Her father and brother were the attorneys that Paul tried to get the other 3 Beatles to agree to handle their affairs. Lennon of course was dead set against it and convinced George and Ringo to go with Allen Klein. Of course a few years later the 3 of them would sue Klein for ripping them off. loneguitar
Eastman's wealth came from their law practice and shrewd investments, they were not related to the Eastman Kodak company at all.
