I know these guitars vary greatly' date=' but in terms of quality, reliability and ease of modding:

Epiphone Lucille

Epiphone Casino (599 version)

Fender Mexican Standard Stratocaster

Fender Highway One Stratocaster

I think most would pick the highway one because it is made in america, but I am sure sometime ago I read something bad about the Highway One Series, right here.[/quote']

Really? I thought it was tough to choose between the Lucille and the Strat' date=' the Casino wasn't too much of a serious option that i was considering.

I really like the lucille, but then if I am getting a semi-hollow, no matter what the majority says about the quality of epiphones or that theirs reached fine with no problems, (such as the post above you), i prefer to get a semi hollow from Gibson, thats the only reason thats keeping me from deciding on the Lucille.

The strat is cool too, or I may just save the cash and put it towards an SG, which was a more long term guitar that I was saving for, ( when I say long term I mean I wouldn'tbe buying it anytime soon.)

Wasn't saying a Lucille was not a good choice. Never played one but all the Epi semis I have played have all been great. I just want a Casino badly.

I know that you weren't saying it wasn't a good choice, I was just saying that for me, it isn't as important an option because I would prefer a semi hollow over a full hollowbody.

Have you considered building a Guitar? I have a Strat with a Japanese body, Warmoth neck, and Japanese and Americans pickups (HSS), that I picked up for just a couple of hundred dollars, and it is a beautiful guitar both for looks and playability. From what I have been reading on Warmoth and StewMac websites, it might be a resonable project, give you some good experience and let you design exactly what you want.[biggrin]

I have, but if I were doing that, I would build a 54 black beauty LP Custom, the one with bigsby and well p-90's, not a strat.

Painting it is also a problem.
