bubba_leon
I'm staring down the barrel of an R8 purchase from a dude in SF. Everything looks great, but the pickups are uncovered zebras. Did some re-issues come with uncovered pickups? The guy wont divulge any info until I actually see him in person. Any Info out there Thanks

deepblue
Actually the pups pictured are reverse Zebra.....anal?...you bet!
lakehaus
My R8, R9, & R7 all had nickel covered pups. These are no doubt aftermarket - and probably better than the Burstbuckers or 57 Classics that it came with. And you say the guy won't give you any info unless / until you go see him in person? What's up with that? You'd think a simple question - "What kind of pickups are those", would get a simple reply - "WCR / Sheptone / Fralin / Lollar / Wolfetone / whatever"
deepblue
[quoteand probably better than the Burstbuckers or 57 Classics that it came with. ] Dunno...My BB's sound great. Most guys are quick to change their pups. Change the pots & caps first youd be surprised what a difference they can make.
bubba_leon
And you say the guy won't give you any info unless / until you go see him in person? He apparently has been getting tons of questions from scammers. It's a Craiglist post, so I kinda understand where he is coming from.
Wally Walrus
Still, people who don't usually show themselves in good will to answer questions tend to be a bad sign.

Hector Arcadius
An R9 for less than USD $2,000...?! Are really these the street prices in USA nowadays? I would really like to know (if anyone would be kind enough to take the time to reply). People ask a few less around here for used Standards (not even Customs)! Damn...!
