CajunBlues
The local guitar center was all out of stock of Gibson Strings. Dude behind the counter said that Gibson was discontinuing their strings. Somehow I think this is one of those Guitar Center Clerks that has been smoking too much pot behind the building Is the rumor true ? I really like their L5 and vintage reissue strings... swleary
I sure hope not. I love using them. If that is the case I better head to my local shop and buy alot of them up. I think I'll email gibson just to clarify.
Big Bill
I'm finding that a lot of Gibson's accessories and parts are hard to find or are on back order. Although it seems there is a large demand for the products, they fail to meet this demand lately. I find it very strange.
Riffster
Didn't Mark say that the plant in Elgin, IL had been closed? Does this have anything to do with it?
tazzboy
With this being the Holidays coming in at full swing I wouldn't be surprise if a lot things are sold out. I would contact Gibson Customer Service and ask them if they have discontinue their strings or not?
DAS44
Man that would suck, I love their humbucker strings.
CajunBlues
I don't think it's true because they are still representing them as a current product on their web site... When I get a chance, I will contact customer support.... There are some guys at GC who really know their stuff... And then there are some that don't know their buttocks from a rabbit burrow... swleary
This was in my email today Hi Scott, Thanks for writing! No, we’re not discontinuing our line of strings. Guitar Center will be able to order them if they are out of stock. Thank you for the inquiry, and sorry about the confusion. Hall
Elgin, Ill. was closed. All equipment moved to Nashville and not in production. Any Gibson strings you find at present were already in stock or are being made by D'Ad and then Gibson boxed as during a previous mechanical breakdown in years past. The question is, what is really going on at Gibson, Inc. ????
deepblue
Theyd be crazy to stop making them. Its a cash cow. Les then a dollar to make and sell them for $
Hall
You're right, deep blue. They were supposed to have the gear up and functioning by now though. I like using strings I know Gibson made themselves. So I have my fingers crossed. But, you know big quiet secret things are going on with the Gibson Co. right now. Lets' hope for the good news before a, "Leo Model" is announced!
Lowdown
Just a question for you Gib string users out there... Why Gib strings? Why do you prefer them over Markley's,D'Add's,Ernie's etc. etc.
65 Casino
The Nashville Post reported today that ...files, endangered rosewood and various string sets....were confiscated...on the flip side Martin Guitars and Taylor Guitars continue manufacturing their products with the rarest of wood...
