RandyR
Hi, everybody, I'm thinking to install a Dirty Fingers humbucker at the bridge of a Gibson LP studio faded and I was wondering if any of you already did that. So, what's the verdict?
rocketman
I have Dirty Fingers in my Sonex. They are LOUD. I don't like them, but I don't use a ton of distortion. If you like heavier music, which I assume you do from your avatar, then I think you'll like them.
dem00n
Go for it. They even sound ok in clean.
Corrosion of conformity
Those are great pickups, you won't regret it.
bubba_leon
The original dirty fingers differ from the newer version. I, like Rocket own a Sonex, and I changed out the pickups with a 500t in the bridge and a 496r in the neck. A little less mud. If your into more vintage metal you wont need the extra output. Randy's LP didn't have dirty fingers in it.
max2343
The newer DirtyFingers Suck. Try and find an old 80's one. With the newer ones you loose all Bottom end and some mid-range they might be good with a shitty Amp thats Bottom Heavy. They are good with a PA-2 Boost and a Mid-Expander This one is in a 1984 Gibson You should just keep what you got and install a 1meg pot and some paper in oil caps
RandyR
thank you guys for your replies, even if i'm still confused. btw, I think the only way to get out of my confusion is given by a try... as some of you said, I fear it could be too muddy or loud, so at the moment I'll keep the burstbucker pro until I find some epiphone profecy which should mount 'em just to have an idea
