Silenced Fred
Looking for a new amp, needs to be tube, and hopefully have reverb. I have about 500 to spend and will be going to Guitar Center. Along with the sales they will have (whatever they are) I also have a coupon for 15% off. Any recommendations? I know most of this will be my personal tastes, but what have people had luck with? Probably around the 15 watt range, but lower would be alright for good sound. Play a lot of blues/rock, mostly lower gain or clean stuff, anything else, I hook up a pedal. Shnate McDuanus
To me, the answer is super obvious... http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Hot-Rod-Series-Blues-Junior-15W-1x12-Tube-Guitar-Combo-Amp-100228021-i1397907.gc 15W. 1x12 Combo. Some of the best on-board reverb around. Slight crunch is possible. Great sounding amp. I love 'em. Can't wait to be able to get one.

The Blues Junior is definitely the front runner, but I gotta make sure my parents will let me buy it
Shnate McDuanus
I gotta make sure my parents will let me buy it Ah yes, the stumbling block for all young musicians such as ourselves. Good luck on that one (I know how rough it can be.) By the way, I love yer signature. Very clever!
Bluemoon
The blues jr. is not a bad amp. It also can be vastly improved by modifying it. If you have any desire down the road to modifying, then I would buy a used one as there a ton on the market. You can find out about all the mods on www.billmaudio.com. Thunder can fill you in on the Vox AC15. I think he is a huge Vox fan.

I've though about the Vox AC15 as well. Probably it will come to a fist fight between those two, when the time comes...

jefleppard
+1 on the blues jr. the reverb is addictive. its very loud amp, too but you can't get an insane drive so, you'll need pedals for metal.
swleary
Marshall class 5 or a haze would be my choice next time I go shopping for an amp :)
Silverbursted
I haven'y played the Class 5, but the Haze was nothing to write home about (IMO).
Silenced Fred
So far, I am very undecided, the Blues Jr. and the AC15 for me are neck and neck. I will be going today to try both out and hopefully enjoy a chance to play them without the "usuals" there, the kids who think that a BC Rich and a Line 6 are "tone heaven" (I have heard that) My main thing is how the reverb compares between the two. I like the tone from the AC15 a little more, but if the reverb isn't up there, then I will definitely go with the Jr.
Shnate McDuanus
The AC15 is also a great amp. It's gonna be a tough choice, because they both have pretty great reverb settings (IMO.)

Silenced Fred
Why not start with a good head==== Vox Night Train. I like the Night Train, only a few problems I have with it. No reverb, I would have to buy a cab, but other than that, I think they are ingenious. I love the tone and how they are built, but we will see, whatever I buy, I will be sure to post pics

Silenced Fred
Just got back from Guitar Center and SamAsh and here is what I have discovered: I would have to say I like the AC15 more than the Blues Jr for the sound qualities. That being said, I just played a Marshall Class 5 and I can't say enough about it. It is by far, one of the nicest amps I have played. It is very lightweight for being tube, great tone and plenty loud for practice and probably even small gigs. I just have to convince my parents now, and see what kind of deals I can get from the stores.
