Gibson CS Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 sorry dont know why this poll got deleated the first time ian martin voted to izzy, good choice, VERY FORGOTTEN
Ian Martin Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 By the way, another good one that was not on this list should be Malcolm Young of AC/DC. But yeah, Izzy is THE man.
Tom99SS Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Just love early ZZTop so I had to vote for Billy.
Geetar_Axl Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 What songs did Izzy write? I thought Slash did most (if not all of) the writting...
FennRx Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Ronnie Wood is one of the most underrated guitarists ever. His blues playing, especially his slide) is phenominal.
Aaresz Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I struggled between Gibbons and Wood, but finally voted for Frampton. I could sense that even in a "b" poll he wasn't gonna get any love!
phil_104 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I voted for Gibbons, but I don't concider him a b-list player. Anybody who was described by Hendrix as " his favorite current guitarist " ain't exactly what I would call b-list. The man is more like the godfather of southern rock-blues.
RichCI Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 What is your criteria to categorize these players as being "B list?" It seems pretty random and I wouldn't consider even half of the players in the poll to be anything less than top notch. Throwing out the B list part, I voted for Gibbons but Ron Wood is right up there with him.
GuitarJunkie Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 If Gibbons is B-list, then it's definitely B+.
MikeRom Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 B listers? Are you serious? These guys are masters of their craft!
Aaresz Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I think by "b list" they mean to imply that the artist listed don't always get the credit there due. In some cases thats more obvious than others, certainly Woods/ Izzy / Mars have lived in the shadows of larger personalities.
Gibson CS Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 B listers? Are you serious? These guys are masters of their craft! amen most of these guys dont get there due credit ex. guitar world/one has had EVH on the cover of there magazine 14 times............... how many times have you seen joe satriani, page, clapton, hendrix, and wylde on the cover then how many times have you seen say, ron wood on the cover??? these guys never get any credit, or limelight and you guys know what guitarist i forgot to put on here neal schon from journey
Thundergod Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 i voted izzy... but what aboout keith richards? (i'm sure i've seen him playing a lester, though his main guitar has always been a tele, and the poll didnt say "les paul player", just player). another one you forgot is andy summers of the police... one of the greatest guitar players imo, and always open for new techniqes and technology. sorry in both cases their main axes are teles. EDIT: yes, you forgot neil schon... he even has his own paul (and a prety expensive one)
Thundergod Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 What songs did Izzy write? I thought Slash did most (if not all of) the writting... actually slash almost never wrote a song for gnr... it was always izzy... wonder why things just fell appart when he left... hm...
Gibson CS Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 Jeff Beck a B list? He is one of the best guitarists of all time.
Aaresz Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 andy summers of the police... one of the greatest guitar players That is a perfect example!
Plank_Spanker Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I had to show Frampton some love. His pop image will always overshadow the good guitar player that he is.
epinder Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Nothing against the others, but someone has to vote for Albert King so I will. Plus I really like his playing.
led floyd9 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Albert King, although he isn't my main influence for my style, Clapton's my influence..... Crossroads....... DANG!
