Is this SG legit?

Exactly and the pickup grounding seems to be wired wrong compared to what I've seen on 61 re-issues, this listing is on ebay and I'm reluctant to bid on it. That's a 2006 model and the single ply truss rod cover I've never seen on any 61 sg, when asked to give me a pic of the truss rod itself the seller said he had tried but had a lousy camera. Ok the pics don't look too hot but still...

Yeah the TRC is not right but that is the only thing I am seeing off, and some people take that off and are always tweaking the rod and then loose it,

so I think it is OK but I would want a hundred off for the non-origonal attention to detail.

ahh. didn't notice the TRC. But people replace those so often. It just doesn't have any of the big "i'm fake" indications like the wrong inlays, or wrong binding, wrong type of bridge, etc. As for the electronics, I can't comment, as I usually never look inside my guitars unless something is wrong.

Also the bridge appears to be a Nashville which is supposed to be an ABR. Is this really a re-issue? Maybe a regular Standard with a small guard we didn't know Gibson made in 2006?

Ask the seller if there are anchors or the studs are screwed directly into the wood.

The guitar is real;the back of the peghead has the glued on "wings" which is a true indicator of a Gibson's authenticity. But why buy off Ebay,a BAD way to buy something as personal as a guitar, when you live in Jersey & can shoot right over the river to 48th st. in Manhattan, where you can find more vintage & re-issue SG's, & any other guitars, than you can imagine? I've actually traveled from Florida to NYC, just to buy a guitar;there is NO better selection ANYWHERE than 48th st. (Except maybe Matt Umanov's in Greenwich Village)

Manny's music was bought out by Sam Ash, and closed it's doors in February earlier this year, and most likely all of "music row" is on the outs. Even Paul Ash, president of sam ash, said that it was inevitable. It'll just get built up huge, like the rest of New York city.

The days of music stores full of vintage and new instruments is over, at least in New York City. Guitar center and Sam Ash are buying up all the vintage instruments they can get their hands on to corner the market, and have been for years. If there are to be new stores, they won't be in NYC.

One can only hope that Dillon Music decides to get into the vintage guitar industry, but with all the competition already from GC and SA in NJ, who knows.
