duane v
I'm impressed..... means a bit coming from you[cool] That solo is one of my all time favorites..... The funny thing before I started playing guitar I always thought that was a bass guitar doing that riff... LOL!!! What I found out later is that was actually Jeff Beck who laid down the guitar solo's in Maggie May[blink]
milod
Hey Duane... Seriously, how do you rate the sound from the LPJ compared to the full version? Less sustain or what? I don't think I'll plan soon to dump the sg body, but... I can't see how, unless I mess with pickups, that there'd be much diff between the SG and the junior...?????? m
duane v
It's really difficult to say how it compares[confused] .... And the reason I state this is I had the LPJ in my hands for only two days brand new before all the mods were performed. Certainly it's no R8 or R9, or a LPC for that matter. However my LPJ does have a wonderful growl, and it can chime like a bell as well. For $700, it's certainly a wonderful instrument, and one that can be modded without reflection. milod
Okay... to get more, I guess, to the point... Do you see it largely as a frame to be modded - at least assuming one already has an SG with a typical humbucker setup? I agree about the price f'r sure. It just always seemed more like a less carved sorta SG to me. But modded... yeah, there's the real thing Gibson neck with lots and lots and lots of solidbody potential... Sheesh, just p90s would be really a nice option. And yours surely is pretty. @#$#$%@$ (That's envy. Not covetousness - just envy. I dunno that I'd have the place and style to play it.) m
duane v
I will say this, my LPJ definitely is quite different from both of my SG's in both sound and feel. And yes I believe the LPJ begs for mods, especially a Charlie Christine pup in the neck position. The only thing that I wish it had was a bit more of a gloss finish, but the satin finish on both my LPJ and SG has grown on me.
milod
I can definitely see why the jr gained appeal.... Hummmm.... GAS. <grin> At least.... after a 335... m
duane v
At least.... after a 335... m Truly a dream guitar for me[drool] A 335 would be a nice fit for me' date=' because of the upper fret access..... Though my Casino, which is my favorite guitar of the bunch, has very limited upper fret access, which is the only knock on the guitar. I can certainly see either a vintage double-cut Melody Maker or 335 added to my harem at some point in 2010..... we shall see.
retrosurfer1959
Which CC pickup did you use for the guitar the telecaster route or a standard p-90 model? I have a CC pickup that was made for a standard humbucker mount but it's not the same shape and size obviously.

It looks more like the vintage CC pups
