goodlad
i have gibsons zakk wylde bullseye and wanted to fit the heavy gauge 10-60 strings on it. Do I have to adjust the nut or can they just got straight on with some bridge adjustment?
Thundergod
didnt it come with those strings from the factory? if not you should adjust the nut, 10-60 is way more tension than your usual 09-43 will have on the neck. That said, why dont all guitars come with 10s? i played a friends guitar the other day and he had 08 strings on it (an ibanez) it felt so weird... imposible to bend a string... ALIEN8
You will definitely need to adjust the nut for a 60 string on the low E, otherwise it will just chip off when you tension the string. Be careful though, you need to be sure to get it to the correct depth as to not cause a buzz, and yet properly support the string... You may also have to do the other strings A and D... Then as thundergod said you will need to do a complete setup, intonation, string height, truss rod, pick-up height...
Tim Plains
Now that's a guitar you don't see everyday. goodlad, post some pictures. As far as getting a set-up goes. If you don't know what you're doing, pay the $50 and have a pro do it...or buy a book.

It's not near a simple process as it sounds. Screw it up just a bit - and it's time for a new nut.

elvendio
You could use the stings them selves to file down the nut that way you get the right size exactly. Then use a little graphite in the slot to keep the strings from sticking. Or just pay a pro the $50.
