I just thought I'd mention to be careful you're fitting the right LP/Epiphone mini-humbuckers and not Firebird ones. I say that because you talk about a mounting plate like Firebirds, and the LP's had a small plastic mounting ring- the distance between the mounting holes is larger on the Firebird pickup.
