timhsu87
Hi, I have a Gibson Songwriter that I bought an year ago. The tuning pegs are rusting and I am not sure what can I do to make it shine again. What are some products that I can use to keep the tuning pegs from rusting? Taylor Player
Hi Tim and welcome to the forum... I am no expert and there are several people who have likely delt with this before but, here is what I think. Rusting is not a good thing. First off, avoid using anything like WD40 on them. Some good 3 in 1 oil will help get them turning better. To clean the metal, you could try to use an old toothbrush with some metal cleaner on it and carefully scrub them up a bit. Avoid getting anything on the finish of the guitar though. To do it right you should dismantle the tuners and then try cleaning them with a metal polish. ajsc
You might want to remove them for cleaning??
BigKahune
You might want to remove them for cleaning?? +1 Once you have them off, possibly Naval Jelly would get them cleaned up a bit. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=naval+jelly&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-
larryp58
Remove them, then use a little Brasso to clean and polish them up.
