Tim Plains
Alright, the G.A.S. is building. In six weeks I'll have a R8. At this point, I feel like a meth addict looking for his next fix. I can't say that I need it...and if I want to play a Les Paul, I have three to chose from...but knowing that the day I get my RI is drawing closer and closer with each day that passes is exciting. I feel like a kid in candy store...a 29 year old kid, mind you...but a kid none-the-less! Only 46 more sleeps....lol!
LPDEN
GAS is a brutal disease not easily remedied. Especially if you hang out here!
dslyecix
Haha the 'sleeps'... I'm only 19 so this is no really 'reminiscing' of any sorts, but that totally reminds of the Christmas excitement... that was always the way my dad said it. "Only 3 more sleeps!" Lol. This one goes to 11
Ever heard of the Polar Bear Club, Tim? It was started by Tolstoy (I think). To join it was easy. All you had to do was stand in a corner for 30 minutes and NOT think about polar bears. Guess this forum's the modern equivalent. Did you go for the '58 because it's basically a '59 without flame cosmetics, or for another reason?
RichCI
Buy pedals - they're cheaper and easier to hide from your wife.
LPDEN
Did you go for the '58 because it's basically a '59 without flame cosmeticsquote] My local dealer has shown me every now and again some '58's come through with flamey tops. I suppose it happens, but not very often. I've also seen some '59's that had some very lame tops. As you can tell I am in the camp that says save your moeny and buy a '58. Gibson CS
So I gather 58's were plain tops?
Tom99SS
I hear you. I have G.A.S. for a new ES-339. Have heard nothing but good things about it and the thought of getting my first semi-hollow body is exciting. Just will not go to the store to check it out. If I do and it is as good as what I have heard I will end up buying it. Must Wait, Must ignore the temptation..... oh it is pulling my towards it. Telling my wife "But honey everybody has more than one guitar, everyobdy has at least 10, so what is 3 to 5 guitars and a couple of amps" And yes this site promote G.A.S. Tim Plains
So I gather 58's were plain tops? The original ones? I don't know. The new R8s are...unless you buy the 50th anniversary R8...which is double the price. I know that older R8s had flame tops.
