Guitar Center Coupons

My last experience with a Guitar Center was 2 weeks ago in Orlando. I asked the salesman if they had a Les Paul Special Double Cutaway' date=' i didn't expect them to have one, but i did expect him to know what it was. He handed me a Standard Les Paul, and it took me about 5 minutes to get him to understand what the DC was. So I moved on, they had a firebird on the wall, so i asked him to take it down. He didn't know what it was, so I had to point it out. When he brought it down, it was missing a volume knob, and the pickups were set so out of whack (they were touching the strings), i gave it back to him and had them fix it before i would even play it. I loved the guitar, i've always loved the firebird but never played one, it played great and looked great (minus the missing volume knob). And at that point i was thinking about buying it. So i started inspecting the guitar, and noticed that there was some seperation from the neck and the sides of the body (which isn't a huge deal cause it's a neck through) so i asked him about the price, he wouldn't budge. i pointed out that it was missing a volume knob, it had obviously been beaten up, and i pointed out the problem with the seperation. He told me that didn't matter, and the neck seperation was normal and that it came like that, and the price was like 1800 and non-negotiable.

Anyway, I handed him the guitar back, and walked out. I will definitely never buy a guitar from them cause obviously the guitars get beaten up by a lot of people during their time hanging on the wall, and they still want to charge you for a brand new guitar. If you have any small privately owned shops around thats the way i would go, they are usually a lot more knowledgable and more willing to negotiate a better price. Plus you're supporting a local business and not the Wal-Mart of music stores.[/quote']

^^^^^^

This is the kind of stuff Neo tells of at the Phoenix GCs and such. It's why I say keep this stuff in mind... apparently it's pretty common.

I might see a missing knob here or there, but otherwise this in no way resembles what I get in Nashville. Seriously.

It could just be because it's Nashville.

Needlees to say like any business you're gonna deal with some d!cks and some that know their stuff.

I have been shocked at the condition of some guitars I've played at the GC. Some so bad I didn't bother playing them at all and just handed it back. This is the game they've chosen to play and we can play along or avoid them.

When I go in usually I know what I'm looking for and what price I'm looking to get it for. If it doesn't fall the way I like I walk away and let them know I had the dinero and now its going to some other guitar store.

It was pretty busy, so it's possible I got someone from a different section. Still, really wanted that firebird but not in the condition it was in.

I don't know, I used to shop in Mars Music all the time back in the day, down in Ft. Lauderdale. I loved it, i knew the owner and all the managers and could play whatever i wanted. I lived about 1.5 hours north so would sometimes stay there for hours. Unfortunately that place didn't last.

The GC I go to has some fairly knowledgable guys. I guess it's a matter of how busy they are. I usually get to talk to guitar and accessory sales. Sometimes I ask questions that I already know the answer to just to test them and determine who I am talking to. If he knows what he is talking about, I continue, otherwise I just walk or browse around the store.
