retrosurfer1959
It's like everything in life how much can you afford in disposable income. Some say a single electric and a acoustic is enough some same a Les paul and a Strat is right, others have hundreds and want more to me it comes down to what can I afford without touching my family or other needs and what will fit in my music room/studio that number seems to be about 40-45 I know thats crazy and I can't play them all even in a week but it's a hobby and has been for years. My guitars rang the whole gambit from my first L6-s in 1977 to a Gretsch country Gentleman I traded for last night. I could live well and be happy with 3-4 but don't need too so why put a number on something like that. gas the short version if it's the chase and acquisition rather than the music you have too many if that's 3 or 300 I have a friend like that his stock makes my collection look small but he see's them as an investment likes stocks or precious metal I think he's a SICK PUPPY, but then again I also play a 8k custom acoustic which he says is like burning money in my fire pit. Sadly were probably both right in some ways so I don't sweat it anymore if my wife or family had needs they would be gone in a second while i'm working and making a great salary why not. Thundergod
When I tell the missus "this is the last one" she just smiles and nods. Bless her heart same here... she knows i cant control this... i think she understands because i dont drink or smoke... so buying new gear that I REALLY NEED and "am never gonna sell" is my only adiction... that and this forum... retrosurfer1959
ChanMan your just evil tempting all these poor Gibson addicts like this. I will have you know I was not tempted by your post at all I had no desire after I saw your post to go out and order another guitar! it could be that I have finally accepted that there will always be another new guitar just months away and that I don't always have to be buying, trading and swapping guitars in a artificial search for true happiness? OR I guess it could be because I already ordered the push tone weeks ago as soon as I saw the guitar of the month program from Gibson and realized they were bringing back the push tone model with swappable pickups. I guess will have to wait for May to find out huh?
littlekenny
In the Les Paul Push Tone would you get a lot of background noise or feedback do to the magnets and not having shielded wires and such?
Gibson CS
Are you talking split coils? If so, youll still get 60 cycle hum when splitting. I found that out with my Peavey.
