Unsubstantiated Superbowl/guitar rumor...

Any of you regulars on here have heard me sing the praises of Bizarre Guitar in Phoenix.

www.bizarreguitar.net

Bob Turner has owned the store since 1976, and he conducts business RIGHT.

In my travels over the years, I've never seen a store that can touch him on inventory - and usually price.

(Saul at Central City in San Diego is the only one I've heard that even comes close....)

Anyhow, I was in there today chatting with the guys and drooling over a couple Les Pauls I want really bad.

I asked where Bob was, turns out he's in L.A. filming a TV commercial set to air during the Superbowl.

The guys tell me he took several of his guitars and some clothes he wears to gigs.

It's a 15 second bit, possibly sponsored by a beer company that I won't name here.

Evidently, they were sent a video camera to take sweeping shots of the merchandise in the store.

That footage will be edited in with whatever they use of Bob from the studio in L.A.

Knowing the guy personally, I'm pretty excited about the whole thing.

I don't know if it will air during the game, or maybe at some point in the pre/post game show.

I'll get back to you with more details as they become available.

Check it out, it's certain to be interesting with the cost of airtime...

Found this on Wikipedia - so put as much faith in it as you dare....

Halftime show

The NFL formally announced on November 26, 2009, that British rock band The Who would

headline the halftime show. The show will be produced by White Cherry Entertainment.

The selection of The Who is notable, as the band performs the theme songs for each TV series in

the CSI franchise, all of which air on CBS - which will air this Super Bowl.

Controversy

Controversy has arisen over the inclusion of The Who in the halftime show due to musician Pete Townshend's placement on the UK's sex offenders register, after he admitted to accessing child pornography online.

Florida state law says anyone with a sex offender background must register with police and provide

fingerprints, DNA samples and a mugshot; but US authorities have already cleared him to perform.
