SG Faded ?

Hey guys I just bought a new sg faded brown and was wondering if you would have to ream the tuner holes to install sperzel locking tuners? Also do they make a direct replacement locking tuner if you have to ream the hole for sperzels? Would the locking tuners on the new les paul standards drop in without reaming?

Before changing tuners, try putting a tiny amount of graphite lube on the nut grooves and the saddle grooves. Most often, there's nothing wrong with the original tuners, but the strings often get hung up on the nut. Stock Gibson tuners are not as smooth as Grovers, but IMHO, they hold tune about the same. Non-locking Grovers or Schallers will drop right in without reaming. Remember, if your SG is neck-heavy, the sealed tuners will add to this effect. If you MUST change the tuners, the "traditional" choice for SG's were nickel-plated Grovers.
