Dating ES-175D

OK, a little research done now -- it looks as though perhaps this guitar was made Feb. 18, 1979 in Kalamazoo? It does have a barely-hanging-on sticker inside that indicates Kalamazoo.

This date would square up with roughly the correct time frame that was indicated when I bought it about 1985.

Thanks for the reply.

Any idea on the market price for this guitar these days? Mine's for sale, but has a serious flaw in the finish on the back (very alligatored from an accident 20 years ago) but is a great player, and the front, sides, and neck are fine as you can see.

I had a May '78 one identical to yours. Sold it in 2004 or 2005 on ebay for about $1400 or $1450. I suspect stuff has gone up since then. You might check ebay's completed items but bear in mind there will be a freakishly huge spread in prices based on the year.

I never go by those guides. Something is worth whatever someone else is will to pay for it that day. That's why I use ebay to get a sense of what the market is bringing. I looked for 70s 175s and there was one that had an opening bid of $2799... it got no bids. There's one up for grabs with Kieffer Sutherland provenance with a buy-it-now of $2350.
