What your seeing is a horizontal split in the heel, the bottom most part of the heel is still in the body, which would contain the tenon area. This is WOOD failure, not glue or joint failure, I've seen it many times. Remember your high school shop teacher telling you that a properly fitted glue joint is stronger than the wood itself.
