Wrap-around tailpieces

So I was guitar shopping on eBay last night and I was looking at a couple of Hamer guitars, and I noticed something I'd paid little attention to before: wrap-around tailpiece/bridges. I noticed the LP Jrs have them as well.

 

Does anyone have an opinion on them? My SG Classic obviously has the tailpiece and the bridge, as does every electric I've ever owned.

 

Thoughts? It seems like an efficient idea...

Oh.... when you said "wrap-around tailpieces", I naturally thought you were talking about my ex!!

There are aftermarket wrap-arounds available that have adjustable saddles similar to a tune-o-matic, and fit the large posts. I had one on my '64 Firebird III that was called a "Leo Quan Badass" bridge.
