rd_artist
at first blush, I would date this bass to be somewhere between 65-69 based on what I see with the type of bridge and tuners.
Crawdaddy
Thank you very much. Can you decipher any more of the serial number. Where it was made, for example?
rd_artist
pre 1976 Gibson serial numbers are notoriously difficult to date accurately sometimes numbers were even reused until they finally implemented a a serial dating scheme
flyingarmadillo
According to this: http://www.gibson.com/Files/downloads/bluebook/GibsonSERIALNUMBERS.pdf it's a 1963 or a 1967. So I guess it's a '67??? If you could post the pot codes it might help.

gearhead
It's kinda hard to get all the #'s with the solder joint on top of them, but it looks like they were manufactured by Chicago Telephone Supply (CTS) in '67. Unless they've been changed, and it doesn't look like they have. Here's a link to some info on dating pots: Date Source Codes

c0rp_53110ut
Resurrecting this thread from the dead... My uncle recently passed and left my stepdad his Gibson Eb-0. At first, we thought it was a '64, but now, given the Gibson serial number history of basically WTF, the walnut finish, slotted head stock, and the side jack (not next to the pots), I believe it may be more of a early to mid-70's model. Bridge cover. Metal humbucker cover on plastic mount. Serial #615749. Also read somewhere that the "Made in the USA" stamp below the S/N is also of 70's origin. I'm assuming it wasn't needed until Gibson started foreign production. Apologies for lack of photos, and thanks!
