Neck width on Studio, Classic, Std?

Hey I have a digital caliper and some time but no real gibson guitar with the 60's neck. My studio with the 50's rounded at the 3rd is 46.04mm at the 7th is 49.35 and the 12th is 52.49mm. I do have a 80's mij copy with the neck you want the info on, and that one at the 3rd it is 44.83 the 7th is 47.96 the 12th is 50.01 and were taken off of the one on the left. The one on the right is the usa gibson studio with the 50's rounded and is a 2007. The one in the middle is another mij copy I think of a 59 paul and by far is my favorite neck (besides my 84 reissue explorer that the best one) of all my 40 plus axes. It comes in at the 3rd at 45.50mm the 7th at 48.77mm and the 12th at 51.73. I do know gibsons necks are all different that is, they have for the pauls only now we are talking, they have their 50's rounded and 60 slim taper, then they have the historics 50's and 60's that are different and alot beefier, I think in the v.o.s. the slim taper 60's is just about like the studio's 50's, but remember the 60's has a flatter fretboard and a slimmer neck and the v.o.s. are more true to the old baseball style. I can only tell-ya that the difference without taking off my strings and actually measuring them that it's really not in the fretboard width, its in the shape on the back of the neck with the 50's style being more beefier and thicker like a, well like a baseball batt.000_3209.jpg and000_3190.jpg

2001 sg special

3rd= 45.60

7th= 49.04

12th=52.14

84 reissue explorer

3rd= 46.65

7th= 50.35

12th= 53.72 And all real good Info for forgeries.

Sorry dude. I haven't read your post until today. I have a 60's neck LPS, a tape measure and the requisite knowledge to perform measurements.... wait just a sec.... we will do this in real time. Brb...

45mm-3

60mm-7

64mm-12

Nothing fancy... my wife's sewing tape measure and my bad eyesight.

Out of curiosity, why?

Oh... and welcome to the forum O:)!

Hell no... I am half blind under the best of circumstances... and those were mighty small lines.

I guess I should have put a "warning: best effort by old fart... use at own risk" ROFL.

Thanks Cuda!

Thank-you very much, my friends, for taking the time to take those measurements! My reason for asking was that the new Classic's and Standards offer a "60's slim taper neck". I wanted to know if there was any difference in width across the scale or if the contour was the only difference. I have small knubs for fingers and the 60's taper interested me. I normally use my thumb to mute the top E string.

Wow, nice dog and collection of LP's you have, cudamax! I like yer' little parts box with calipers too...

BTW, the dog looks part wolf. My wife and I were fortunate to handle some full-blood wolf pups about a year ago...Our daugter is a Vet...

Thxs again fellows for all the info and your time!!!

No problem, hope we helped ya In making the correct choice. Thanx's for the complements on my wolf/malmute I loved that dog, his name was stevie. Anyways I have just the opposite problem. I have trained gorilla hands and most necks are small. I have also always used my thumb while palming s---(some say that's slop) I really like the smaller scale (24 3/4") for 19th-17th-15th-12 pull-offs000_3984.jpg000_3988.jpg

GOOD LUCK TO-YA
