GuitarGod319
i like all of them but EVH is my fav.but it really depends on what mood im in.
Aaresz
That was a tough one, but I picked EVH. In my humble opinion he single handily brought back the "guitar god", who had been absent for so long.
Thundergod
voted zakk... but you should have listed brian may... tho it wouldnt be fair, he is in a completely different and higher level than those in your list
ibis
My favourite is Jimmy Page, but I voted for Hendrix. Without him, we'd be buggered.
Gibson CS
Thundergod... Brian May is simply amazing! Old Queen from the early to mid 70's....It doesnt get any better then that. Good taste my friend!
Eitoip
If I had to pick from that list I'd say Hendrix, but I think Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton deserve a mention to hehe.
RIPRIDER
Why no Alex Lifeson ?????????????
FennRx
Once again define better. From a technical or virtuoso aspect...people like Vai and Satriani or Buckethead. But Herman Li can play 84th note tapping solos and not have 1/100 the feeling of Jimmy Page's pentatonic blues IMO.

ChanMan
How can one say X guitarist is "better" than Y guitarist at that level? An equally answerable poll might be "which is the better flavor.... vanilla, chocolate, orange, grape...."
OKlunchbox
The title of that poll needs some serious editing. It should be who's the better rock/hard rock guitarist, because you're not even close to the tip of the iceberg of amazing guitarists with that list. Honestly if you're basing your judgment on superhuman technical ability and loads of soul I think that Al DiMeola would waste half the guys on your list. Yeah, I said waste. I understand that these guys are really popular, but do we really need to keep discussing the same names over and over again? Does anyone else want to, for lack of a better term and to be completely cliche, broaden their horizons? Again to reiterate...Al DiMeola...awesome. I had to buy the Casino CD to expose my little "burster" to him. DiMeola has taste and extreme technical ability. My son just happened to go to bed tonight with Al playing in his CD player. Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, Earl Klugh, Satch, Vai, Malmsteen, SRV, Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Duane Allmond, etc. Didn't Captain Kirk blow up a massive alien computer with such logic once? The list goes on & on with tasteful, soulful extremely gifted axemen. Enjoy the current flavor coming through the speakers or phones!

phil47uk
I'll have to abstain from voting simply because there are a whole bunch of far more interesting ( To me that is ) players missing from the list. I'm in agreement with chanman. One cannot say who is the best guitarist. There are just too many styles and interpretations to take into account. For instance where is Django Reinhardt. Bireli Lagrene.. B.B King. Buddy Whittington.. Jeff Beck.. Knofler. Chet Atkins.. Whooaaa! the list goes on. I'm afraid the following two videos really blow the whole argument away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaHaRUPfKok&feature=related There is no such person as THE! best guitarist. It is all a matter of personal preference. It's more often than not, not how many notes you play that creates great music, but the spaces in between the notes..That's where the real art resides. For instance can we say this young girl in the video below is a better player than say Clapton or Slash , because both would probably get their fingers tied in knots with this piece. No.. Clapton is great for what he does, as is Slash for what he does. We should appreciate every player for what he or she has to offer.
Gibson CS
Actually I think theres a few on that list that I could give a run for their money.
