Watermelon99
On the nut on my studio there is a very small chip next to the "G" string groove. Any time I bend the note on that string the string slides right out of the groove. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks.
KL
Get a luthier to make you a new nut. It will be as good as new in no time. In fact it might be even better than new!
Blackie
For a temp fix you can use super glue.......you have to make a form with tape around the edges of the repair to keep the glue out of the slot. Then a drop or 2 should bond to the chip enough to hold the string in place.........take the string out of the slot though as to not have it bond also. Great suggestion... Thankfully my nuts have always given me good service...
L5Larry
For a permanent and professional repair, use the super glue method, BUT, you should mix BAKING POWDER with the super glue into a paste. This paste is much easier to work with than the liquid, gives you a longer working time, sets up harder and will give it similar color to the nut. I believe I stole this repair method from Dan Erlewein.
