davethecat15
Hi i have recently purchased a new gibson les paul standard purely and simply because it sounded great. I would like to get some help on decoding it and finding out its original date if possible. I looked on the gibson website for decoding and i got a little confused so i hoped that i could turn to you. Its a Flame maple sunburst (i think) gibson les paul. Its serial number is 92727648 and has "made in U.S.A" impressed onto the back of the headstock, the serial number is also impressed into the headstock. I believe it is a 1997 les paul but i read on the gibson website that they only impressed the serial number before 1975. So i was woundering if anyone could help me please
kylehnewman
It was made in 1997, September 29th, 6th batch, 48th guitar in that batch.
davethecat15
Ok thanks very much for that. Could anyone also give me a value of it, like how much you would normally pay for a 1997 gibson les paul standard in like-new condition.
cwness
If you could post a few pics it would help determining a value for that year. Off hand I would say anywhere between 1200- 1800 would be close. CW
davethecat15
Heres a picture or two tht i have, and with the 1200-1800 value is that in pounds or dollars?
cwness
That would be dollars. That is a beautiful guitar and would go on the high end of those prices. CW
