Plank_Spanker
I am suprised the studio weighs more than the standard! what year is the standard? The Standard is 2006. I don't know if it's "chambered" or "swiss cheesed". Either way it's a joy to play and it sounds great!

Tim Plains
deepblue, I believe you've said your Standard is chambered? 8lb 6oz is a bit heavy for a chambered guitar, I think. I don't know exactly, but my BFG feels like it's closer to 6 lbs. Are you sure that scale is accurate? You should weigh something else that you already know the weight of. The chambers I have picked up felt more like SG weights which hang around 6lbs for the most part. A good scale testedfor accuracy is the real authority here. T50
My 2001 LP Std weighs in at 9 lb and 11 oz. I think my 1998 LP Classic Plus weighs about the same as above. My 2007 LP Custom weighs 10 lb and 6 oz.

I haven't scaled my new '68 Custom yet, but my estimate is it's over 10lbs.

When I pick up my SG, it feels kind of... toy-ish compared to the beefy LPs. As for your Custom LP, I think it's normal for Custom LPs to weigh between 10 lb and 10 lb 8 oz... Gibson CS
Well guys I just tested the scale. Its pretty close. I guess this proves that the weights can be a tad different even on the same model.

HBTN
Malmsteen Stratocaster - 7lb 8oz Wow. PS: Malmsteen is phenominal. I'd venture to say my Studio is around 11, but I'm not too concerned about weight (being barrel chested) if it can dish out a heavenly tone. darkinners
Mine 01 Studio Plus weight 13lbs. I remember the day I purchase this baby that was 7 years ago. I tried like 30 les paul and I was surprised how much the weight could be different over different ones! even they were the same model! I bought this one simply the sound best among the rest and this is the heaviest one. it might do with the wood of dense, I don't know
Sancho
I only weighed my Les Pauls... 93 Standard : 9.7lbs 00 Standard : 9.26 lbs 07 Standard : 7.9lbs This one has to be chambered... 07 Custom : 10.6lbs I'm actually not too thrilled with the light weight of the 07 Standard. I like my Les Pauls like I like my wimminz, with a little meat on the bones=p~

His playing does absolutely nothing for me. I can't listen to him for longer than 5 seconds when he is speeding along what I find an unmelodic riff... To each their own I guess. Poor old Jimmy would have turned in his grave.. An accute case of fretboard diarrhoea I'm afraid. But then as you said.. Every man to his own taste. Someone should harpoon the poor bugger and put him out of his misery..LOL.
HBTN
Heh. I have yet to come across a cover thats been better than the original, Yngwie doesn't do many of his "Inspiration" covers very well... I'd venture to say its most attributable to it not being his style. In addition, he really shouldn't sing, but other than that - I like a good chunk of his work. I just think its amazing how hes been playing and composing since he was literally a child. But while on unmelodic riffs... I can't stand Herman Li.
