RIPRIDER
Whatz the difference between a Standard and a Deluxe...the same years of coarse?
cvansickle
An authentic Deluxe would have mini humbuckers, for a start.
saturn
Without looking it up, I think about the only difference is that the Deluxe has Mini Hummbuckers.
SilverLesterStd
I believe the LP Deluxe has a thick neck (50's or close to it) without the 60's option. And those cool mini-humbuckers.
NeoConMan
I just bought a Deluxe Goldtop. GOTW #8. The main reason? ALL the Deluxes I ever saw had a fat neck. The GOTW has the 60 Slim Taper and Alnico magnets in the mini humbuckers. Very cool guitar to add to the arsenal. Sound is tighter in focus, a little P-90ish with the same humbucker growl. Not as capable of doing really low power chords, kinda loses the crunch down on the e string. Not better or worse, just a little different. As I said, very cool. I really want one with the 60's neck. I know Seymour Duncan makes some hot mini humbuckers, but I have never heard them in a guitar, have you? Mini Hums are cool sounding and you got them in a great package. Enjoy!

Even my Guild Starfire III hollowbody with Duncan 59's is a little hotter than the body can use without feedback. The mini HB's I've heard in the Gibson Firebird were just too thin and shrill for my tastes. Ceramic magnets maybe? Really sizzle for hard rock and ripping leads but I wouldn't want to hear it all night long. My experience; If Seymour Duncan says it's a hot pickup, you can bet your *** it's a HOT pickup! Great stuff, just make sure you know what you're getting.
