Cooperoni Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I just bought a 2006 R0 Les Paul Special, took it home and played it for an hour or so, took it in for a pro set up, got it home, played it a little more then noticed it had a little too much fret contact on the low E string. I took it back and after having 2 tech's then the shop owner look at it, it has to go back to Gibson for repair. Some day we will be together but I guess I will have to wait a bit more. On the bright side it makes it a little easier to hide it from my girlfriend when it isn't in the house!
Cooperoni Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 I'm not quite sure what's wrong yet, but hey that's why you fill out the warrantee.
Ian Martin Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 NICE guitar, sorry to hear about the QC issues. The finish is sweet!
Gibson CS Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Its all good. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Itll make you appreciate her even more. Hang in there buddy!
Cooperoni Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 NICE guitar' date=' sorry to hear about the QC issues. The finish is sweet![/quote'] That be the TV White Finish.
Ian Martin Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 That be the TV White Finish. I like it very much! If I may be so blunt, how much did that beauty set you back? You don't have to answer that if you don't want, just curious.
Cooperoni Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 I think it was originally selling for $2200, but I got it for on sale for way le$$!
leopold Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I bet someone cut the nut to get the action lowered. This happened to me on a 2005 R9. Its a bad "shortcut" that some techs take (even authorized ones). Its good that its going back to Gibson, they will get it perfect for you.
Cooperoni Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 But it is brand spankin' new, I am the original owner. It had been hanging around in the store for around 2 years, I don't know if that would cause the problem. I will have to ask the repair shop owner what is exactly wrong with it. It is an authorized repair shop, but the dude behind the counter said they couldn't fix it there for some reason (I think it was because it would cost Gibson too much to pay the shop to do the repair, so Gibson would just do it themselves). I was in there today and the shop owner was busy with some major rock band's guitars, so I didn't talk to him. I wish I was famous. Won't have all the details till next week.
