Just kidding with my last post by the way.

But seriously' date=' I think they're two completely different animals.

Each one offers something the other doesn't.

very true. but im talking about how paul reed keeps talking about taping the wood and how it go's DING or DOHH i have played a lot of PRS guitars and i just dont see the DING! hes talking about in sregards to the great wood resanance they are saposed to have.

Les Paul.

A prs is a great guitar...but its missing something...that a les paul has.

You know?

I hear ya.

It's like "Here's the Les Paul, the ultimate guitar. Now if you want, go make a fancy-lookin' variation of it".

But they can't bottle and sell that special something that a Les Paul has.

However, what they do bottle and sell is pretty nice... And expensive too.

Paul Reed Smith founded his business on' date=' and continues today, making Gibson copies.

'nuf said![/quote'] I'd say that's a blatant over simplification. PRS guitars has brought a lot of great things to the guitar world, and a lot of them barely look anything like a gibson, unless you want to say that any mahogany body guitar is a Gibson copy. What about the CE series guitars with that innovative bolt on neck joint? The 25" scale? the Wider neck and lack of PLASTIC binding?

Uhmmm... the SC245/250 are Gibson Les Paul copies, clones, etc. I'd rather have the Gibson LP, thanks. [biggrin]

That's not to disagree with your point. They've got some stuff I like.

IMHO:

Hamer > PRS. 'nuff said.

My local guitar store has that very guitar in second hand right now. Only about £500 too!

I played a pre-lawsuit Singlecut and I thought it was one of the best playing guitars I ever had the pleasure of wrapping my clams around. It was a while back though and I have to admit I've not picked one up since, but still, that Singlecut was mega.

That's not what the court said and Gibson should take a close look a the PRS maybe they could

get the QC back to where it should be. PRS doesn't have all the bad press either. First the

Fret board illegal wood, worst place to work, and now the BBB D- rating. Just makes you

wonder what's going on.

All fair points. And don't forget the horrible apparel debacle.

I'd still rather have the Gibson LP.

But yes, what the heck is going on?

Will Gibson stay afloat? :-$

In regards to Gibson getting more bad press then PRS that could be the differance of Gibsons penitration to the market. Gibson has way more of the market vs PRS so in comparason they could both be in the same ratio of good to bad press just on differnt levels.
