thruz
I'm thinking about replacing the tuners on my J-45TV (the white plastic just doesn't do it for me). Any recommendations would be appreciated (I'm looking for something that will fit with no modifications).
guitarstrummer
Welcome to the forum. Wouldn't you be defeating one of the purposes of the TV by replacing distinguishing features on it? Do you want to replace them because of performance or appearance? If it's just an appearance issue, I think I'd leave it original.
LPDEN
Yes, Welcome! I too feel that unless there is something physically wrong with the tuner, you'd be changing look that flows with the theme.
LesLawrence
Go with your heart on this but save the original buttons in case you sell and it matters to the buyer. The True Vintage "green" GOTOH tuners should be a drop in. That's what I got to replace those ugly white buttons on my Crow. Haven't made the switch yet because those Masterbilt strings still don't need replacement. Les
Acousticat
I, also have a J 45 TV. I would not change a thing.
Modac
Put on a nice set of Waverlys...they'll work better and they'll look better. When you spend that much on a guitar, there's nothing wrong with customizing it so that it satisfies you completely.
ballcorner
Yes' date=' Welcome! Change the tuners buddy. Change 'em with something gnarly, chrome and big.
TWilson
I changed the tuners on my '04 J-45 with Kluson Deluxe Gold tuners, dropped in. After looking at a picture of Bob Dylan playing a J-45, I felt guilty and put the originals back in.
LPDEN
I know you don't buy guitars usually thinking of resale, but to me when making chnages to guitars, I usually at least make sure I keep the original parts in case there is a point in time it may be sold to acquire another guitar. Most people look for originl examples for the most part. Or at least one's that include the original parts, be it tuners, pickups, etc...
Modac
Did you buy the guitar for yourself, or did you buy the guitar for the next person who may own it?
thruz
Thanks for all the replies. I'm really not that concerned with resale, but you all have some good points. Not sure what I'm going to do at this point.
