I know all of the stuff about limiting one's tastes, having discerning tastes, having a discriminating ear, blah blah and so on, and I don't buy it. I listen to a ton of music, and I appreciate a lot of different guitarists. I still have discerning tastes, but I can think of a lot of great guitarists who I really love listening to.

Asterisks denote my most favorite favorites :)

Angus Young, Jack White, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry and B.B. King.

Just a few to name off.

My two biggest influences are Angus Young and Jack White. I also like to hear different guitar players from genres that i don't really like, because you know anyone who has the patience to play an instrument and dedicate their time to it, really gets to me. And i respect that.

This is where I'd ask, favorite guitarist that isn't world renowned and known for being the baddest.

I mean we all love page and hendrix and beck and stevie ray and so on....

As controversy there will be people saying Vai (oh but he's souless) and Buckethead (no, NOOOO).

I think Jonny Winter doesn't get mentioned as often as he should and I'll add Ani DiFranco for good measure, because there is more to guitar gods than men with plugged axes ripping.

Hey...not sure if I understood this as you intended so I thought I would check. Do you think people just put Vai and Buckethead to be controversial? And not because they are two of their favorite guitarists?
