steveyg
Hi all, Just recently purchased a LP Standard in Ebony. Guitar is in lovely condition except the headstock where the laquer is cracking, looks like the guitar must have been left in a cold room for many months? Can this be restored? I will try and take some photo's and get them uploaded this evening. Many thanks, Steve

It can't be repaired unless you have the finish removed and reapplied. I'd leave it and call it your own personal relic job.
steveyg
Thanks for the reply Denny. It does look quite cool, have been told off a repairer it would cost around £40.00 to have it restored...
LPDEN
Not worth the expense. It may happen again anyway.
steveyg
Spoke to another guitar repair specialist and they have said not to have it done as it would devalue the guitar and said to live with it as part of the character of the guitar :D/ They said that 'Lacquer cracking is common with Nitro cellulose lacquer'. So like you said Denny, it could happen again! Many thanks! Steve
