Earlier in the week we gave you a killer 16-note pentatonic scale to practice your chops on. Today, we give you instructor Joe Musella once again, but this time showing you how to turn that pentatonic scale into a useful—and fun—practice tool.

Today's lesson, also from the Berklee College of Music, takes the basic pentatonic scale and shows you how to incorporate it into your own style of playing. Musella shares some very good insight on mixing up the sequences of the pentatonic scale, and how to use it in different positions with triplets, quintuplets, and repeats.

This is an excellent lesson on how to take this essential scale and integrate it into your own lead playing style. Remember the old cliché, "practice makes perfect." Your favorite rock guitar heroes didn't get there by sitting around twiddling their thumbs. They got there by spending countless hours practicing and honing their skills. The same can happen for you, if you just practice.

And please don't forget to check back on Monday for another great lesson from Gibson Lifestyle. Trust us, today's lesson will keep you busy for the next couple of days!
