Mr. Robot Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 The British magazine Guitarist has a review of this new non-US John Lennon Casino and they give it a HUGE wrap. They say the tone is awesome. Apparently, it has about $200 worth of US hardware (incl the pickups) and it kills the standard Chinese made Epi Casino. Looking forward to trying one. Anyone played it?
cookieman15061 Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 China made with all Gibson USA guts and pups. Comes with HS case as well and the step up in quality is well worth the added $400. I've owned 2 standard Casinos and neither compare to this. That being said the Elitist and original Lennon casinos are the high water mark of this brand. If I was just a collector and had the money I'd get the $2000 Lennon. If I still played professionally I'd get the Elitist. Since I still play out with some regularity and always wanted a casino like John's I got the IBJL casino. Love it!
Dub-T-123 Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 I almost got a teal Casino with an Epiphone Bigsby-style tailpiece before I got my Vox. I'm glad I didn't get it because even though it was only $200 I wouldn't have been able to get my Vox. I still want one though. Even if I had to upgrade the electronics it's still a sweet guitar. It had such a cool finish too. It definatly fit my style.

It sounds great and it's really a nice fit in my band. It's been working out well. It has changed the way that I play in the sense that I can go from clean to overdriven with the volume on my guitar as well as picking attack. I've never had that luxury before and it's great. It's nice and loud so it has plenty of headroom but I can still really get the tubes working at a reasonable band volume. (my band can be pretty loud) I pretty much only use the top-boost channel because it's much more flexable and I just prefer the tone. Overall I think it's a great sounding amp. I'm pretty spoiled. I'm 17 and I have a sweet Gibson and a nice tube amp and good bandmates. What more can you ask for. Sorry to get off topic.
Gibson4life Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 I own one, and they're great. When I first played it, I was surprised at how well it sounded. It sounds suprisingly loud when unplugged too. And with the upgrades/case, it really is worth the extra $400.
cookieman15061 Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 That's a sweetie' date=' cookieman..... [/quote'] Thanks Murph. The neck is real sweet too. It has a satin like finish that really allows you to slide easily up and down the fret board.
