Hey guys, new to the forum. I am a proud Les Paul owner. It was a custom made in 2002 i believe. I have a few questions. It seems it was made by Gibson USA as opposed to the custom shop. The guitar has the nicest flame maple top I have ever seen however and the guitar itself is perfectly built. Does anyone have any information about customs made in this year? and what would be the difference in where it was made? (USA vs Custom shop?)

Thank you!

If the serial # doesn't start with "CS" or feature a "Custom Shop" decal on the lower part of the headstock (behind the nut), it wasn't made in the Custom Shop.

As far as the difference between Gibson USA LPs vs. The Custom Shop:

Gibson USA = Mass produced, run of the mill LPs

Custom Shop = Limited Runs, one-offs, high-end Signature models, etc. Basically guitars that need extra special attention to detail.

Pics are welcome just the same though.[blink]

There are many well made "run of the mill" USA Les Paul's out there. I have one of them. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
I didn't mean anything by that. I was merely pointing out their reqularity compared to those of from the CS.

I wouldn't trade my Classic for anything either...except for maybe a Peter Frampton sig Custom.:-&
