jimmiJAMM Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 We're all very cool musicians but certain hobbies might be considered... well, not so cool. I love building plastic model kits. Always have.
Dom_JEM Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 making games....oh wait...thats what im training to do im now the most unpopular person here haha
S t e v e Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 i'm also a HIFI buff and my system cost just as much as all my guitars combined
ledzep59 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I think this forum is honestly the "nerdiest" thing I do; not to say that nerdy is bad.
RichCI Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 The only thing that separates guitar players from band camp nerds is that we don't play clarinet.
jimmiJAMM Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 The only thing that separates guitar players from band camp nerds is that we don't play clarinet. Wellllll' date=' that and all the a$$ we get!
Riverside Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Gardening. Like' date=' shrubs and flowers, not food.[/quote'] I'm no farmer, but there's nothing like the taste of food that you've grown in your own garden. Oh - and I play around with guitars, too.
Dom_JEM Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Wellllll' date=' that and all the a$$ we get! [tongue'] we get a$$?...
bloom59 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I've been in school of some sort post HS for 12 of the last 14 years. I'm not sure it is a hobby, but it's nerdy as hell. Dom, Don't ruin it for me! I started playing(practicing) about a year ago for that reason. Damn it, just like those chess lessons.
RichCI Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Wellllll' date=' that and all the a$$ we get! [tongue'] Ha! I used to be a lead singer; playing guitar has nothing on that! (Note the implied "Lead Singer's Disease")
Thundergod Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I collect comics. Probably have more than 5000 of them right now.
ChanMan Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I do medieval combat using rattan weapons as a way to study Icelandic "Vikings" and their culture.
ShredAstaire Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Guitar takes up most of my free time....but i'm a big Sci Fi nerd....movies, books, whatever!! I also collect Buckethead memorabilia...if thats not nerdy, i'm not sure what is!!
Rocky4 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I collect comics. Probably have more than 5000 of them right now. I collected when I was younger. I tried to sell them when I was going through a divorce. After striking out with eBay and the local shops, I threw them away. They were mostly from the early to mid 70s. I'm sure some were worth some cash. I ride a road bike in the summer and get a little nerdy with the bike pants, but usually wear shorts over them so my kids don't laugh at me.
Riverside Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 we get a$$?... I bet you carry one around with you everywhere you go...
jimmiJAMM Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 Collectibles: Todd Mcfarlane action figures, vintage GiJoes, Star Wars, Micro-Machines...
ksdaddy Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I still have all my Archie comics from the 60s up in the attic. Plus some hot rod oriented comics. No idea how many, 3 or 4 boxes. As to nerdy obsessions/hobbies. I collect old transistor radios (about 140 at last count). I used to collect lighters and probably have 40 or so. My latest oddball thing is old coffee pots. Not fancy ones, just run of the mill aluminum stove top pots from the 30s up. My latest is a WearEver from the late 30s or so. Five bucks on ebay. And I do use them every day. I'll never own another Mr Coffee type. Proof I have no life: My newest acquisition perking coffee on my 1955 GE stove. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5opOKxF1jI
Artie Owl Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Pokemon, I was hooked 15 years ago still am today. I'd be more embarrassed but that game has sold over 1.5 billion copies so I'm not the only one out there. (That's 1.5 billion over 15 years, not like, any one particular title.)
Big Bill Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Outside of retro-porn, I'm into model railroading and gardening.
ksdaddy Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Outside of retro-porn' date=' I'm into model railroading and gardening.[/quote'] My brother got a new Lionel train in 1957. The transformer disappeared in the 60s sometime. I now have it mounted on a section of track on a shelf over my living room windows.
